TOP SPRING WEDDING IDEAS

Spring has sprung and there is something truly romantic about a spring wedding. They are full of greenery and blooms and, whilst the weather can be a little unpredictable, you may get sunshine and there are still lots of ways you can enjoy a spring wedding.

If you are planning a spring wedding I’ve rounded up some of the best ways you can host a wedding in this beautiful season. These spring details will have you and your guests full of the joy of spring in no time!

Colours

No matter whether you are planning a spring wedding in a garden or you’ve chosen a swanky hotel, spring colours brighten any occasion. Blush pinks, pale yellows or champagne, light blues or sage greens - keeping your colours in the spring palette will make your wedding feel fresh and romantic. Pair neutrals with pastel colours, or pale pinks and purples mixed with bluebell-blues are incredibly romantic.

Your wedding stationery can look amazing channelling these pretty pastel colours and prints of fabulous spring florals.

Flowers

The great news about holding your wedding in spring is there will be no shortage of flowers.

Choose flowers that are in season if you are conscious about your carbon footprint or budget. Spring flowers include hyacinths, sweet peas, lily of the valley and freesia, all of which are highly scented additions to bridal bouquets – not only will they look beautiful but they’ll also smell amazing too! Tulips, daffodils and forget-me-nots are also in season and add fantastic texture to centerpieces, bouquets and arrangements.

Whilst you are at it, if you are having a spring wedding then aside from the usual bouquets and buttonholes you could take the flower theme a whole lot further by adding floral wreaths and corsages into your decoration. The floral wreaths could be work in bridesmaids’ and flower girls’ hair whilst the mother of the bride and groom can wear corsages, or even decorate their hats with fresh flowers.

Floral Bridal Party Outfits

If you are feeling a little brave, spring is the perfect time to ditch the standard single-colour flower-girl or bridesmaid dresses in favour of ones in lovely floral prints in spring pastels.

And if you are feeling especially brave, or want to be a bit different, why not go for a floral wedding dress??

Light Coloured Suits for the Groom's Party

Just as the ladies could be wearing lightweight and spring-coloured dresses, there’s seasonal options for the men’s outfits too. Choosing lighter coloured suits will not only reflect the heat should you be lucky with the temperature on your wedding day, but it will also compliment the other spring colours used elsewhere too.

Include a Spring-themed Drinks Station

I love the idea of theming your drinks station for a spring wedding. Whether you have non-alcoholic options such as homemade lemonade or fruit punch or an alcoholic version with botancial flavoured gins or a prosecco bar with edible spring flowers, it will certainly be something appreciated by your guests.

If you are more of a cocktail lover you can start your reception with one or two signature cocktails, who doesn’t love a spring cocktail? Think fruity, colourful and garnished with spring fruits or herbs. Your guests will be in cocktail heaven!

Colourful Food

Colour can be used in so much more than just your décor. Spring is the perfect time to ramp up the colourful plates. Edible garnishes and flowers elevate dishes spectacularly and will surely impress even the fussy eaters at your wedding. Spring couples are in luck as many edible garnishes are in season meaning there should be a wide variety available to compliment your menu.

And of course there are many fabulous meats, fruits and vegetables in season during Spring from local suppliers that you can incorporate into your menu, especially if you are concerned about being sustainable.

If you fancied extending the theme to dessert, you could have an ice cream station or sorbet station complete with various spring tasting and coloured toppings.

Add colour to your cake by having a spring design painted onto the actual cake, or if you are looking for something more traditional, adorn it with spring flowers.

And don't forget the added fun of Easter - mini-egg favours, devilled eggs starters, cakes with chocolate eggs, easter egg hunts for the kids, painted eggs as your place cards...I could go on and on it's so egg-citing (I can hear your groaning!)

Incorporate Spring Themes into your Ceremony

Spring is all about new life, growth and renewal - so if you are having a celebrant-led or less traditional wedding ceremony, you can incorporate quotes, poems or words that link your marriage with all of the very relevant and romantic themes of this time of year.

And you can even consider an outdoor ceremony - especially now that the law has changed so that they are here to stay! Just make sure you have umbrellas to hand just in case - Spring weather can be fickle!

You could really go to town with ideas around new life - lots of budding flowers, lambs gambolling with the joy of new life, kittens and puppies, more light coming into your lives.... (OK, someone stop me now before it all becomes a bit cheesy!!)

Spring is a gorgeous time of year to get married, the harshness and bareness of winter is gone and if you are lucky the weather will be fair but not blazing hot (although you never know - spring 2020 was a scorcher!) Congratulations to everyone getting married this spring, and hopefully this has helped a bit for those of you planning a future spring wedding....
